Custom Ministry trip for your Family
“How can I go with my family to do missions?” a friend recently asked through an email.
Here are the things you need to know:
1) use this form http://omusa.org/inquire-form-custom-trips.html to ask your questions and start the process
2) use this list to get a general idea of where to go short-term: http://omusa.org/go/short-term/
3) You have two options of “how” to serve. One is to go do a wide variety of ministries and help with what needs helped with . . . the second option is to use skills or a specific talent.
General Ministry (see above list)
Specific Skill Ministry (http://omusa.org/go/custom-trips/ideas.html)
Hope this helps!
See you overseas.

Orissa India Update
Joseph D’Souza is an advocate and voice for the Dalit people of India. He is being used by God--Joseph is brilliant. I’ve had the privelige to spending some time with him and can highly recommend you follow what he is doing, is saying, and is asking the Body of Christ to do. He started something call the Dalit Freedom Network . Also, you can read some of his blog thoughts at josephdsouza.com.
Here is a BBC interview with him you won’t want to miss. How do you respond in prayer and action when you see this?

Just discovered Carl who proclaims Jesus, not Christianity.
An acquaintance pointed me to Carl M. You can learn more and check his stories from the Middle East here: http://www.carlmedearis.com/
(Don’t know what this pic is supposed to do for our theology and understanding of God and ourselves. Do we hold the World? Does God hold the World? If we had sharp finger nails, would this carve the next Grand Canyon?)
I hope you are intrigued, inspired, and pointed to Jesus by Carl’s desire to NOT share Christianity. Instead he tells people about Jesus while pleading ignorance to Christianity.
I don’t use the word Bible.
I don’t say I’m a Christian.
Jesus wasn’t even a Christian.
But who is Jesus?
Let’s do talk about him.
Now, imagine if you could do this in the Middle East or around the globe? or down the street or at the local pub?
What kind of response would you get?
Let’s find out.

History and my future
The church I grew up in deeply moves my emotions, especially when I think of the people who invested their lives into mine. They deposited every week, probably under discouragement and challenges. Our sunday school classes were usually no more than 8 and there were a few trouble make students. These teachers continued each week returning to the children--one of whom was me!
Today I got in front of them to say thank you. I stood and after mentioning one name, I began bawling. For those who were there--it seems this happens most times I return to speak at this church--I get emotionally charged and then I release.
These last few years I’ve been wanting to GET whatever is on God’s heart. This has been a pursuit of mine! I just want it--sure there are barriers like business, apathy, and the volume of life turned up too loudly, BUT I do want it.
thought or prayer for you, your friends, and me:
turn down the volume.
listen to heart of God.
feast on His delights.
dream of the divine.
his heart for all nations.
to know and worship Him.
prepare more than your heart.
to encounter more than His.
injustice, pain and sin
wreak havoc on their life.
while mine seems calm and peaceful
God impart your heart in mine.
Ignoring all around me
seems the easier way out.
than changing our own World
God’s Kingdom will resound.
Life turns out busy.
people. tasks. driving and fun.
making space for God’s life.
Harder and worth it.

Does short-term missions work?
if you stop with short-term missions it become a cul-de-sac.

Journeying to the heart of God
We are on a journey to the heart of God, seeking to know this Jesus Christ of the Bible. He is mysterious, simple, beautiful, and friend. What he asks of us is everything. We hold back . . . for a while. Jesus
Serving, mobilizing and equipping others to know Jesus Christ and make him known.
We encourage people to faith steps beyond themselves and living a life of discipleship. Our hearts ache for those who have no voice and no one to tell them about Jesus Christ.
We are staff with Operation Mobilization sent out by ministry partners and a few local churches.

"Take my life" :: Afghanistan
At 8 AM yesterday morning, October 20, 2008, Afghanistan time, a worker
with another ministry was shot and killed. The Taliban has claimed
responsibility.
You can take from me no more than my life.--Offrus Greizinger
Oh, how easy it is to be a Christian, so long as the flesh is not put to the trial,
or nothing has to be relinquished; then it is an easy thing to be a Christian.
--Maeyken Wens
Thus they sang until close to the water's edge, where they were to be drowned.
--Jacob Mandel and Hendrick Sumer
I am ready to suffer my head to be struck off, much rather than apostatize from
my faith. --Hans Haslibacher

Leadership instinct, funny bone, and a trumpet.
The leadership instinct you are born with is the backbone.
You develop the funny bone and the wishbone that go with it.
-Elaine Agather
The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision.
You can't blow an uncertain trumpet.
-Theodore M. Hesburgh
The three legs on which trust stands are character, competence, and communication.
Much effort is put on competence and communication but character building does not receive as much attention.
